We are a small family-owned farm specializing in the breeding/training of Welsh Section B ponies and half-Welsh ponies for the "A and AA" hunter circuit. Our late senior Welsh pony stallion was the registered Welsh Section B, Land's End Adagio, by the legendary *Carolinas Red Fox, LOM. *Carolinas Red Fox, now deceased, was at the top of the USEF Leading Hunter Pony Sires List for many years. He was a Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America Supreme Champion and Sire Legion of Merit recipient. Adagio was following in his famous sire's footsteps, and was himself the 2006 1st place winner of the 2 Year Old Pony Hunter Breeding class at Upperville, was 3rd at Devon in 2006 and was the 2005 WPCSA American Nationals Jr. Section B Champion Stallion. In 2019 he was one of only a handful of stallions in the top 20 of both Pony Hunters and Pony Hunter Breeding. He has sired ponies that have won top ribbons at Pony Finals, Devon,WEF, Upperville and many other top venues. Our junior stallion is Smoke Tree Shameful Thief (Smoke Tree Prince of Thieves X Smoke Tree Shameless). Thief is a liver chestnut sabino with 4 tall socks and a blaze and stands a full 14hh. He is one of only a handful of Section B Welsh stallions with that size and true Welsh type. He is double Smoke Tree Spun Gold bred and has the most friendly and quiet disposition you could hope for. At the young age of only 7 years old he had already sired a Devon class winner.
Our Welsh hunter pony stallions and mares are selected for their conformation, temperament, movement and outstanding pedigrees. They are each handled daily and are child friendly and love attention. Quicksilver Farm is located in the beautiful Charleston, South Carolina area.
Our ponies are at home on 70 acres adjoining the Francis Marion National Forest. We offer training for a limited number of outside ponies and custom hunter/jumper riding lessons to riders of all ages and sizes. We have several instructors on staff to meet all of your needs. We have a proven track record of producing winning hunter ponies from unstarted and/or poorly started prospects up to tune-ups and marketing of made show ponies.
